CENTER OF THE WORLD
LATITUDE 00°00'00
Ecuador holds immense pride in its location. Ecuador, named after the equator, is a country that shares both the northern and southern hemispheres. You should visit the Mitad del Mundo monument which is an impressive 100-foot-tall structure that marks where the equator was determined to be located in the 70s. As it turns out, the monument is approximately 800 feet off the actual equator line which was later proven by GPS - which is also worth a visit.
