You also may want to do yourself a favor and bring an extra bag, shopping the local artisanal is a must. In fact, while you're at it head to any of the neighboring pueblos and see where these crafts are handmade.

Head to the coast for a visit in Mexico's jewel of the Pacific, Puerto Vallarta. Vallarta is known for golden beaches of Bahía de Banderas, lush emerald jungle, and the dramatic misty slopes of the Sierra Madre mountain range. Cobblestone streets and red-tiled roofs complement the area’s natural beauty. Head to the old town, where you’ll pass through historic squares shaded by the blooms of jacaranda trees, cozy restaurants, and hidden shops full of artisanal goods. You can take a yoga lesson on the beach and sample a locally made micro-brew, visit the landmark church in the main square then finish the day relaxing by the pool.

San Miguel de Allende is considered to be Mexico's most enchanting city, with the grand neo-Gothic 17th century church visible from just about every street in Centro. You'll find first class restaurants, incredible art galleries, outstanding hotels, and amazing architecture. Start the morning floating above the valley in a hot air balloon with expansive views of the city and the surrounding Sierra Madre mountains. End the day soaking in hot springs with a glass wine from a local vineyard. It will all feel straight out of a fairy tale.
